Ruby Princess Cruise ship is set to launch on its maiden voyage in November of 2008 to cruise the Caribbean and then the Mediterranean.

The Ruby Princess nears completion and recently successfully completed sea trials. This ship is similar to other Princess Cruise ships in size and amenities and will begin its first run on a seven day tour of the Caribbean. Vacationers looking for a good deal on a great cruise might be interested in the Ruby Princess.

Best Deals on Cruise Rates

For the maiden voyage interior cabins start at $762 and suites will book at $2,162 for seven days in the Caribbean according to Princess Cruise Line's official website. The spring will see a transition to the Mediterranean where twelve day cruise routes will start at $2,198 and top out at $6,232 dollars. A 10 day cruise aboard the Ruby Princess during the 2009 Caribbean season will start at $1,489 for an interior room and over $3,000 dollars for a suite, nearly twice the 2008 rates for only a few extra days and a year of experience. The Fall/Winter 2008 season aboard the Ruby Princess is a great deal on a Caribbean cruise.

Maiden Voyage Offers Opportunity for Great Deals

Booking a cruise aboard a new cruise ship offers some risk: maiden voyages at times do not occur as scheduled because of delays in the final completion. In fact, some savvy vacationers book the maiden voyage expecting it to be canceled. At worst these guests get a great trip on a brand new ship. At best they get a full refund to put towards a future cruise and often a free upgrade, discount or priority booking on a future cruise. Sometimes early cruises include functional hiccups as the “bugs are worked out” for staff and the new ship design. Staff strive to avoid any inconvenience for the passengers and generally a maiden voyage is a fun and exciting way to see a familiar route in a new way.

Cruise Ship Amenities and Activities

The Ruby Princess will be similar to other Princess Cruise Line ships in size and amenities. Guests may find the piazza style atrium and “Movies Under the Stars” outdoor movie screen familiar. The ship will also host the new Wii Fit Tournaments found on other Princess Cruise Line ships. Adults seeking a relaxing space may enjoy The Sanctuary, an adult’s only retreat. Although similar to other Princess Cruise Line ships, the Ruby will offer new restaurants offering Italian food and Seafood.

A new ship offers cruisegoers both something new and an opportunity to save. Whether the Ruby Princess will launch on schedule remains to be seen. When it does launch invariably rates will not remain low as this ship is built for luxury.
