Oasis of the Seas to Debut in December 2009, Royal Caribbean
The Oasis of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean's biggest ship to date featuring two-level loft suites, a zipline, a nursery and other cruise industry firsts.

When the Oasis of the Seas debuts in December 2009, she will be the world's largest cruise ship. It will also be the most innovative cruise ship to date, featuring many cruise industry firsts. Here is an overview of what to expect onboard the new Oasis of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean’s Biggest Cruise Ship

Size of the Oasis of the Seas – The Oasis of the Seas will be 225,000 Gross Registered Tons (GRT) carrying 5,400 passengers (double occupancy) and 2,165 crew members.

The Youth Zone – The children and teen areas on the Oasis of the Seas will be the largest at sea with close to 29,000 square feet dedicated to guests aged 17 and under. This ship will also feature Royal Caribbean’s first nursery for infants and toddlers.

Pools and Hot Tubs –The Pool and Sports Zone will stretch the length of the ship offering numerous pools and Jacuzzis. Along with the main pool, there will be a sports pool, an adult-only pool, and two FlowRider surfing simulators, too. There will be a dedicated infant and toddler pool set in the H20 Zone water park. In addition, the Aqua Theater pool will be 18 feet deep, the largest and deepest pool at sea.

Family Features on Oasis of the Seas

Aqua Theater Pool – During the day, passengers can relax or lounge by the Aqua Theater Pool or even take a Scuba course. During the evenings, the pool will feature choreographed fountain shows with high diving and aerialist performances into the pool.

Adventure Ocean Theater – This will be the first children’s theatre at sea complete with a stage and curtains, audience seating and production equipment.

Teen Spa – A dedicated space in the Vitality Spa offers a menu of spa options for teenagers and tweens.

Zipline – The Oasis of the Seas will feature the first zipline at sea, spanning 82 feet in length and suspended nine decks high.

Family Accommodations – The Oasis of the Seas will introduce two-level loft suites featuring floor to ceiling windows with the master bedroom on the second level. Another new style suite will be the AquaTheater Suite. These suites will accommodate up to eight guests and feature a wrap around balcony that overlooks the Aqua Theater.

Other Unique Features – The Oasis of the Seas will introduce the first ever carousel at sea, a tropical park with flowers and trees,

Caribbean Cruises on Oasis of the Seas

  • Eastern Caribbean Cruises – Starting in December 2009, the Oasis of the Seas will sail 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ports of call will include St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Nassau, and three days at sea.

  • Western Caribbean Cruises – Starting in May 2010, the Oasis of the Seas will alternate a Western Caribbean cruise with the Eastern Caribbean cruises. Departing from Fort Lauderdale the ports of call will include Royal Caribbean’s private island, Labadee, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and three days at sea.
The sister to the Oasis of the Seas will be the Allure of the Seas which will debut in December 2010.
