Carnival Cruise Lines launches the Carnival Dream, Carnival Cruise Lines
Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Dream is Carnival's biggest cruise ship with extra large spa and children's facilities and featuring many cruise industry firsts.

Carnival Cruise Lines launched the Carnival Dream on September 18, 2009. The cruise ship is Carnival’s largest at 130,000 tons and carrying 3,646 passengers. Here is what to expect onboard the Carnival Dream.

Carnival Cruise Lines' Biggest Cruise Ship

Cloud 9 Spa – The 40,000 square foot spa is the largest cruise ship spa in the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet, spanning over two decks and features spa staterooms and suites. The spa itself will be a spacious 23,750 square feet which includes a thermal suite, a VIP treatment suite for couples, and a thalassotherapy pool.

Adult-Only Area – Located on two levels of the ship’s forward decks, the Serenity's adult area will comprise 11,250 square feet and accommodate up to 200 passengers on deck chairs, hammocks, and in hot tubs. Guests can access this adult-only area by the glass elevator located within the Cloud 9 spa.

Largest Children Facilities – With more than 19,000 square feet catering to children under the age of 18, the Carnival Dream has the largest children facilities in the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet. There is 5,000 feet dedicated to Camp Carnival (age 2 to 11) with an additional 1,075 square feet for the Circle C center, geared to the 12 to 14 year olds. And teenagers have their own space in Club 02, a 2,740 square foot teen club.

Longest Waterslide – At 303 feet long, the Carnival Dream waterslide is the longest at sea. There is also a 104 foot spiral waterslide and an 80-foot double lane racing waterslide.

New Staterooms and Suites on Carnival Dream

Spa Staterooms and Suites – Most of these accommodations are located on deck 11, directly below the Cloud 9 Spa. Guests in these staterooms and suites will have exclusive entry access either by glass elevator or a spiral staircase. Special offerings for guests in spa accommodations include unlimited use of the thermal suite and thalassotherapy pool, two fitness classes each, and upgraded in-stateroom amenities.

Family Suites – These deluxe ocean view staterooms include two bathrooms and can accommodate five guests. Room configuration includes two twin beds that can convert into a king along, with two single beds that fold down from the wall. One bathroom has a bathtub and sink, while the other bathroom features a shower.

Cove Balcony Stateroom – These unique staterooms feature balconies that are closest to waterline.

Carnival Dream New Amenities

New Dining Concepts – The Gathering is a casual poolside restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It features a 24-hour pizzeria, pasta bar, burrito bar, Mongolian grill, Tandoori oven, and a 35-item salad bar. There is no charge for this restaurant. The Carnival Dream will also feature Wasabi, a complimentary sushi bar.

The Lanai – This outdoor area features a wrap around promenade and cantilevered whirlpools suspended over the ship’s side.

Fun Hub – Carnival Dream’s intranet portal is the first shipboard social network. Guests can create their own personal profiles and have the opportunity to meet and interact with other guests onboard via these Fun Hub kiosks. The numerous computer kiosks feature WiFi access and also provide a variety of information such as daily activities, menus and weather.

New Entertainment – The Carnival Dream will feature the Seaside Theater, a 12’ x 22‘ LED screen to watch movies and sporting events. The Ocean Plaza is an indoor/outdoor cafe with live music and entertainment. And, another industry first is the laser light shows that take place on the Lido deck at night.

The Carnival Dream's inaugural cruises begin in the Mediterranean in September 2009. And 7-day Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral start in December 2009. The sister ship to the Carnival Dream will be the 130,000 Carnival Magic which is scheduled for delivery in June 2011.
