Repositioning cruises offer some of the best cruise bargains for fall and spring. Select cruise deals from cruises under $75 per day.
Repositioning cruises provide the opportunity to find cheap cruises and unique itineraries. As cruise ships reposition from region to region, find cheap Transatlantic cruises, Pacific Coast cruise deals, and even some cheap exotic cruises. Here are a few fall and spring repositioning cruise options. Cheap Repositioning Cruises in the FallBest Months for Repositioning Cruises – Every September and October, a number of ships reposition from Alaska to a variety of other itineraries such as the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii, and South America. Other popular fall repositioning cruises are on ships departing from Europe and heading to the Caribbean and Canada New England. These cruises are offered in October and even into November. Cheap Repositioning Cruises from Europe – Although Cunard Line offers the traditional New York to Southampton Transatlantic cruise that lasts 6 days, other cruise lines often offer transatlantic cruises with a lower per diem (per day) rate. For example, for 2009, Celebrity Cruises offers a 14 day repositioning cruise on the Equinox starting in Rome (Civitavecchia) on November 5, 2009 and ending in Fort Lauderdale on November 19th for $1,149 per person. Repositioning Cruises from Alaska – These repositioning cruises depart from Vancouver or Seattle and end in Los Angeles, San Francisco or San Diego. For 2009, Princess Cruises is offering a 3 day cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles on the Sapphire Princess departing on September 23. Rates start at $170 per person which equates to around $57 per day. Cheap Exotic Repositioning Cruises – For an exotic repositioning cruise with a cheap rate, Holland America Line is offering a 15-day cruise to Osaka, Japan departing from Seattle on September 24, 2009. Rates start at $929 per person which equates to around $62 per day. Cheap Repositioning Cruises in the SpringBest Months for Repositioning Cruises – In April and May, cruise ships head back to Alaska for the summer. These ships may be coming from the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii and South America. This is also the time when cruise ships leave the Caribbean for cruises to Europe, many making the transit after a few Canada New England cruises. Cheap Repositioning Cruises to Europe – On April10, 2010, Disney Cruise Line will be repositioning the Disney Magic from Florida to Europe. Cruising from Port Canaveral, this Transatlantic cruise will visit Castaway Cay, Madeira (Portugal), Cadiz (Spain), Gibraltar and Barcelona on a 14 day cruise. Prices start at only $999 per adult which equates to under $75 per day. Cruise Deals from California – Usually these repositioning cruises start in Los Angeles, San Francisco or San Diego, just after the Mexican Riviera cruise season. Cruises vary in length and end in either Vancouver or Seattle. Cheap Repositioning Cruise from South America – As cruise ships leave Antarctica and South America in the spring, cheap cruise deals are offered for these exotic cruises. Princess Cruises offers an 18 day cruise on the Star Princess leaving Rio, Brazil to Fort Lauderdale on March 16, 2010. Rates start at $1,700 per person with six days in Brazilian ports and three days in Caribbean ports before arriving in Fort Lauderdale. One disadvantage of repositioning cruises is the fact that they begin in one port and end in another. Budget-savvy cruisers will be able to take advantage of cheap repositioning cruise deals if they can find cheap airfares, too.
